Most of the land area of the park is covered by scrub, which has different composition and nature in different archipelagos. Most of it is coastal scrub, sometimes cliff vegetation, and in other cases it belongs to stages prior to the regeneration of the tree line, with impenetrable masses of gorse, fern and brambles. Even wet heaths grow in deeper soils, with the presence of heather, thistle and gorse.

The“retamales”(broom) also appear in the bushes. In Ons there is an exclusive and unique broom endemic to the Park, the Cytisus insularis, although in this case in the west of the island.

Similarly, blackthorn formations appear as well as hawthorn, willow and elderberry. These masses of scrub are an ideal place for shelter, nesting and breeding of large terrestrial fauna like birds, reptiles or mammals.
