In spite of the hostilities, the photographer Emile Pochet took several photos of troops during the war. Here we can see 5 German soldiers, rifles in hand, and another, in the centre, seated and smoking a pipe; between his legs he holds a sign with the wording 'Fosses 6-10-14'. To the right, two others, arms at their shoulders, seem to be on patrol. To the left, a civilian looks on.
