This took place in December 1915: the German army needed horses and carts for carrying goods and moving from one place to another. The photo was taken in Rue de la Station (Avenue Albert I), which we can see is lined with acacias, not far from photographer Pochet's shop.
Several German soldiers wearing typical spiked helmets can be seen and, further up, a line of carts pulled by horses heading towards Place de la Gare, where they gathered for the requisitioning.
