The abundance of sunshine, great blocks of stone and dry scrub in the Park are an optimal environment for the various reptiles. Nine species are represented, ocellated lizard, up to 40 cms ( in all islands), common lizard (Cortegada) Iberian lizard, (Cies, Ons and Sálvora), slow-worm (Cies, Ons and Sálvora)western three toed skink (all islands) Iberian skink (Cies), southern smooth snake (all islands), ladder snake (Ons) and viperine snake (Ons).

The skinks are lizards which lost their legs in the evolutionary process, or have very atrophied.

The Park snakes are harmless and they are between 60-80 cms - Southern smooth snake, 65cm-1m- the viperine snake (frequently seen on coastal rocks and tidal pools catching small fish) and 135 cms- the ladder snake, the largest of the three.
