There are only three amphibian species in the islands of the park because the environment is usually dry with a very thick vegetation and very few fresh water pools. They are the Bosca´s newt (Ons and Sálvora), the Spanish painted frog (Ons and Sálvora) and the fire salamander (in the south cíes island, Ons and Sálvora).

We must say that the salamander of the Atlantic islands which generally lays its larvae in the water (ovoviviparous reproduction), it reproduces here in a viviparous way, giving birth to its babies metamorphosed. They are very common in Ons. This species shows a very high degree of melanism (higher than the usual one) with a great predominance of black colour and very few yellow spots on its body.
