It´s located in the south sea inlets of Galicia. It was declared national park in 200286% of the protected surface is maritime and 14% is ground. It contains the island chains of Cíes, Ons, Sálvora and Cortegada, and forms a natural barrier which protects the islands from the buffeting of the Atlantic Ocean. The main ecosystems are the coastal (sandy areas, dunes and cliffs), underwater (rocky, sandy or Maerl seafloors and peebles) and ground (Atlantic and submediterranean coastal bushes). The seafloors (the jewel of the park) is the place where the most biodiversity can be found. This is the water where the local fleet fishes. Sea birds are remarkably common.

Due to the low height, the weather is warmer than the one in the continent, the temperarure is pleasant and it rains less.
