The islands have two different slopes, western and eastern. The first one is more precipitous with very steep cliffs and the second one is softer and more gentle with sandy areas and dune systems. It´s a landscape full of contrasts transformed by the action of erosive forces. They are long shaped islands defined by this special morphology (west versus north). The constant train of waves eroded the coast, creating cracks, undermining and causing the fall of blocks, forming this way the steep cliffs whih we can see today. The wind and the salinity have also contributed to model the landscape of both slopes.
