As the land surface of the park is relatively small (1200hectares), there are many species of land birds which nest in the different archipelagos of the park. They are migratory summer or winter birds. Among the first ones, raptors such as the common buzzard are the most important (they are on every island), the goshawk on every island too, the kestrel in Ons and the peregrin falcon in the cliffs of Ons and Cíes. There are also night birds such as the owl in Ons, Sálvora and Cortegada.

The Alpine swift and the European nightjar nest in Ons and Cíes in summer. They are in every island. Common swifts and swalows are also easy to see.

There are plenty of common wood pigeons. The turtledoves are less usual, though (only in Cíes and Ons).

The European green woodpeckers are in all the islands except for Sálvora.

The raven is the most significant among the corvids in Cíes and Ons. Also the carrion crow and the jackdaw which is difficult to see.

The most important birds are redstarts, wagtails, wrens, stonechats, lesser whitethroats, European serins, European greenfinches, goldfinches, robins, blackbirds and blue tits. They are frequently found in open spaces, in the brushwood or in the forested areas.
