The best time to come and buy fish at the food market in Camariñas is during the early morning hours, when the counters are still full of the fresh silver-coloured treasures of our sea. The produce on offer is seasonal. Some of the species arriving in port are, among others: hake, pollack, bream, pout, conger eels, sea bass, sardines and the famous Camariñas octopus and seafood.

If you happen to be around the port of Camariñas or in Camelle in the afternoon, between 15:00h and 17:00h, you can see the boats arriving with their day's catch; and a little later, at around 19:00h, the purse seine boats leaving to return at dawn. No doubt this will wake up your senses!

O Ariño clams

The following seafoods are produced locally in Camariñas: goose barnacles, sea urchins, clams (Manila, carpet shell and grooved carpet shell), cockles, periwinkles, pod razors and razor shells. If you want to see how shellfish is gathered, go to O Ariño to see the members of the Shellfish Gatherers' Association of Camariñas at work, or join one of their guided tours. Visit the Tourism Office on the seaside promenade or the Seafarers' Guild.
