Caión is a parish of the municipality of A Laracha, a typical seafaring town and the only exit to the sea in the municipality.

Located on a small peninsula, home to the first port of the Costa da Morte and much of its fishing history. With a whaling past, today it is a friendly and well preserved town and proof of this are the 16th century buildings will find in this square.

To your left you will see the Los Condes de Graxal Manor House, the home of a powerful family, who in the 16th century, founded the Convent of San Agustín (currently the Tourist Information point) and in the south the parish church of Nosa Señora do Socorro.

From here you can go to the Fishing Archive Museum, located in the basement of the Fishermen's Guild.

Route of the neighbourhoods
If you cross the square you will find the Rueiro das Figueiras, a narrow street with terraced houses, which in olden times were painted with the colours left over from the boats. The originals can be distinguished by their stone ground floor and wooden first floor.

From here you can go down to the port to the iconic San Roque neighbourhood, first settlement of houses in the Middle Ages known as "The Old Caión".
